Community Impact

Every medal has a story.
But not every story is remembered.

For generations, ordinary people have quietly transformed athletics through courage, compassion and determination. Many of their stories have never been told. TAFi exists to preserve them before they are lost forever.
The problem

The stories that shaped our sport are disappearing.

Long before the medals, television cameras and packed stadiums, there were ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
The volunteer who opened the track before work every Saturday.
The parent who travelled hundreds of miles so their child believed they belonged.
The coach who changed lives but never made the headlines.
The official who quietly fought to make competition fairer.
The disabled athlete who refused to accept there wasn’t a place for them.
The woman who became the first.
The refugee who found belonging through athletics.
The club that welcomed everyone.
These people helped shape inclusive athletics.
Yet every year more of these stories disappear. Not because they weren’t important. Because nobody recorded them.
When a story is lost, part of our sporting heritage disappears forever.
Future generations lose role models. Communities lose part of their identity. Young people lose proof that change is possible.
We believe these stories deserve to live on. Not inside forgotten photo albums. Not in storage boxes. Not only in fading memories. But somewhere everyone can learn from them.
Our mission

To preserve, celebrate and amplify the people whose contributions have shaped inclusive athletics, ensuring their stories inspire stronger, more connected communities for generations to come.

We believe inclusion is built by ordinary people making extraordinary decisions every day. By preserving their lived experiences, celebrating their achievements and sharing their knowledge, we strengthen communities, inspire future generations and create a lasting legacy that belongs to everyone.

How we create impact

Four commitments.

Everything we do, media, community and events flows from these.

01

Preserve

Recording stories before they disappear, conversations, photographs, letters, oral histories.

02

Celebrate

Recognising those whose contributions have often gone unseen inside their clubs and communities.

03

Connect

Bringing communities together through shared experiences, exhibitions and live gatherings.

04

Inspire

Helping future generations understand what is possible when ordinary people refuse to accept less.

What we're building

Our ambition is to build Britain's largest public archive dedicated to the people who have shaped inclusive athletics. Not simply to remember history. But to inspire the future.

Featured project

The People's Track.

Preserving the stories that shaped inclusive athletics.

The People's Track is TAFi's flagship eighteen-month community heritage project.

Working alongside athletics clubs, volunteers, officials, athletes and local communities, we are creating a permanent archive celebrating the people who helped build a more inclusive sport.

Through recorded conversations, photography, written histories and public exhibitions we are ensuring these stories remain accessible for future generations.

Partners

Built together.

Lasting change in athletics is created when communities, governing bodies, charities and organisations work side by side. Our partners are collaborators, not sponsors.

Some stories change history.
Others quietly change lives.
Both deserve to be remembered.

If you know someone whose contribution to athletics should never be forgotten, we’d love to hear their story. Together we can ensure the people who built a more inclusive future are never left out of history.
