TAFi Recognition Awards

Jeanette Kwakye

Jeanette is a highly respected British broadcaster and a former Olympic sprinter. She became a prominent voice in sports media after an accomplished athletic career, and was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2021 for services to sports and sports broadcasting.

Bursary

Glenys Morton

Glenys is a former British athlete and an athletics coach for Leicester Coritanian AC. As of last year, she serves as a lead coach and coach mentor for European Athletics.
She represented England in the long jump and following her career on track, she went on to coach some of Leicester’s best athletes to international level.

Coach of the
year Award

Sharon Morris

A UKA Sprints Coach to GB junior internationals, European, National, Schools and Regional champions, Sharon is also part of the England Athletics National Coach Development Programme and the UKA Female Coach Legacy Programme, and is a staunch advocate for more women in coaching roles.

Unsung Hero of the year Award​

Ken Pike

An honorary member of Kent AC, Ken has two real passions in life, running and mathematics. The latter he taught at Sedgehill School for many years where he was regarded as an excellent teacher by staff and pupils alike. Acknowledged and recognised for being thorough, Ken has been blessed with excellent organisational skills, ensuring no stone is left unturned.

MALE Athlete of the year

Seamus Derbyshire

Seamus is a British 400-meter hurdles. After stepping away from competition in 2024, he had a breakthrough year in 2025 setting a new personal best and securing his first senior-level World Championships appearance, A vocal advocate for athletes being their true and authentic selves please put your hands together for Seamus!

FEMALE Athlete of the year

Amy Hunt

This year was a breakthrough season that culminated in her winning a silver medal in the women’s 200m at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. She achieved new personal bests in the 60m, 100m, and 200m and won her first British senior outdoor title.

MALE Para-Athlete of the year

Thomas Young

Young has already landed an MBE and he is a patron and ambassador for charities, including Nerve Tumours UK and the Childhood Tumour Trust, helping to raise awareness about Neurofibromatosis and inspire others with less visible impairments to get involved in sports. Please put your hands together for Thomas.

FEMALE Para-Athlete of the year

Hannah Cockroft

Hannah is a multi-decorated British wheelchair racer specialising in sprint distances in the T34 classification. This year she added three more world titles to her collection at the World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi. Her performances were a focal point of Great Britain’s success.

Breakthrough young star of the year Male

Teddy Wilson

Teddy is a prominent young British sprinter specialising in the 100m and 200m events. He is a multiple youth record holder and international medallist, considered one of the UK’s most promising junior athlete. In 2025 he set new personal bests in the 60, 100 and 200m. Breakthrough young star of the year Female

Alessia Scala

Alessia is a promising young British athlete who specialises in the high jump, and has also competed in the triple jump and long jump. This year she won the National U15 High Jump Championship and has achieved a high jump PB of 1.76m, which places her on the all-time UK U15 top 10 list. She also achieved a long jump PB of 4.87m and a shot put PB of 7.76m.
